Join us on one of our favorite walks at Paris Mountain State Park. This will be a themed walk in the spirit of baseball, so come wearing your favorite baseball team’s jerseys, hats, and even uniforms. After the walk, we will hold our quarterly meeting with a picnic with hot dogs, cracker jacks and apple pie. If you decide to join us and stay for the picnic/meeting we ask that you bring some sort of side dish to go along with the hot dogs. Water will also be provided by the club. Please let me know if you intend to join us for the picnic/meeting so that we purchase enough food to go around.
Some details about the walk:
Paris Mountain State Park walk will cover some of the park’s 1,540-acre that is located at the back door to Greenville, nestled in the forested foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The walk is almost entirely on dirt paths/trails and the terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers as it is a bit uneven in many places. Restrooms are available along the walk. This trail is not a typical a “walk in the park” on paved streets with manicured lawns, but this gem in Greenville should not be missed for the nature enthusiasts. Paris Mountain is home to a vast array of wildlife, majestic trees, and spectacular vistas. The park is listed on the National Register of historic places. A number of the park buildings were built by the CCC in the 1930s during the great depression and are a great place to picnic after a nice walk in one of South Carolina’s best parks.
